When you cannot go to the gym every day, or when the cost of membership in a gym is a bit high, the equipment or machines to do physical exercises at home can be a good alternative. But before you rush out to buy a new gym equipment, make sure you are not buying what promises quick and easy results for your shape.

Treadmills

The engine on a treadmill is as important as a car, and paying more in advance usually translates into smoother driving and a lot of trouble-free use of km. Do not be fooled either by sellers trying to promote maximum power treadmills, which reach up to 3 or 4 HP, when the average runner is far from that power. Of course, always look for a minimum of 2.0 horsepower if you want to enjoy a good experience on your treadmill.

A small tire may contract your way, damaging the natural movement of your body when walking. The ideal is to look for a cover of 140cm of length at least, and between 45 and 55 cm of width, since it allows to exercise comfortably for the great majority of users.

It is also advisable to ensure that the cover has some damping system, being friendlier to your joints. And this makes the treadmill not only useful and advisable in winter times with unfavorable weather conditions, but also during the rest of the year, since the impact of joints when running outdoors, usually on asphalt, is much harder than the one they receive on a treadmill.

Elliptical

The ideal one is an elliptical that allows you to adjust the stride length so as to adapt the movements of the pedal to your steps and rhythm, helping to prevent injuries. But it is not usually found in most models, nor in those that could be within an average budget. Therefore, it seeks a stride length of 45 to 52 cm, which will concentrate the average stride of most users, from 1.60 to 1.90 meters in height.

Before buying an elliptical, try it in the store, even with at the highest resistances you will hardly use at home. If the machine is stable, with no strange noises, crunches, or oscillations, you can go ahead with the purchase. Unlike a treadmill, the elliptical is very quiet because they use a magnetic resistance, rather than an engine.

The distance between the pedals is one of the most important aspects to take into account, since some machines have a markedly wider separation. The wide separation is not natural and can cause pain in the joints and knees.
